and an archaeological excavation in the heart of the Yucatan.
Welcome to the multimedia website of the Selz Foundation Yaxuná Archaeology Project. Headquartered at Southern Methodist University, the project conducts scientific research in the ancient ruins of Yaxuná, a Maya city founded during the Middle Preclassic era and destroyed by forces of Chichén Itzá during the Terminal Classic. It is located 20 kilometers south of that legendary imperial city.
